No Dad (for Joe)

My name is Joe
I have no dad
I live with my mom
And that’s not all bad

Mom takes care of me
And helps me with school
Says bedtime’s at 8
(That is the rule)

We do things together
Mom roots at my games
But something is missing
It’s just not the same

I wish I had someone
Who could help with this need
For a dad in my life
So I prayed quietly

And as I was praying
This popped in my head!
I have a Father
In heaven instead!

He said I could call Him
“Daddy” – that’s rad!
I can talk to him anytime
I have a Dad!

I can go in my room
Or sit at the park
At my desk, in my bed
In the light or the dark

When kids pick on me
And their words make me sad
I know I can talk
To my mom AND my Dad

I know that He always
Hears what I say
(I think He was cheering
At soccer today!)

So I close my eyes
And I feel Him near
Close by my side
My Daddy is here!

About Arrow

Hi and welcome! My pen name is Arrow. The word “arrow” intrigues me because it has two meanings that describe my passions. One, it is an instrument used intentionally to reach a target, and two, it shows the way. As a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, my goals are to live for Him, lead others to Him, and glorify the Heavenly Father. I pray that the stories, poems, song lyrics, and devotional thoughts I share on this website will always be inspired by the Holy Spirit and aligned with the truths found in God’s Word. My hope is that the words may penetrate your heart and point the way to a closer relationship with the Savior. I look forward to sharing my journey with you. Experiencing what God has in store is bound to be exciting! May you be blessed! ~ Arrow
