Arizona, like many states, is experiencing a growing number of wrong-way driver fatalities. I was surprised to learn that more than half of these deaths occurred in rural areas and not surprised that the majority of drivers were highly intoxicated.

Recently I awoke from a dream where I was standing on a freeway at night shouting warnings to cars that were headed the wrong way. Some immediately did a U-turn. Others ignored me.
I think if Jesus were preaching today, that scenario could have been included in His parables. Can you hear it now? Listen to the parable of the wrong-way driver. He is barreling full-speed ahead into catastrophe. The problem is, if this story jumps to the spiritual realm, there are more wrong-way drivers than right-way drivers!
The part of this ‘parable’ we can apply is to have sincere concern for those who are going the wrong way, who have not accepted Christ as their Savior and Lord. Are we doing our best to urgently warn them, to lovingly share that there is a better way? A goal of believers should be to live for Jesus and encourage others to join us on that journey.
Listen to what Jesus told His disciples. “‘You know the way to the place where I am going.’ Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?’ Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’” (John 14:4-6).
Let’s do our best to point as many as possible to the true and right way, salvation through Jesus Christ.
