Wednesday Whisper ~Hammock & Ice Tea
So, this Shepherd provides, once again, everything his ‘sheep’ need, nourishing food, a calm source of water to drink, and a comfortable, safe place to rest. And, we can truly rest when we trust Him with our anxious thoughts, fears, and worries. As you lie your head on the pillow tonight, imagine releasing your worries. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Pet. 5:7). Be refreshed and be at peace. Your Shepherd is near saying, “I’ve got this.” Continue reading

Wednesday Whisper ~ Meet Needs?
Why don’t we need a thing? Because when we accept the fact that we are needy sheep who need a perfect Shepherd and Lord, He promises to meet our needs. Our God who loves us beyond comprehension wants to meet our needs and He already knows what they are. So, let’s stay near the Shepherd, trusting Him in our time of need. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). Continue reading
Wed. Whisper ~ Effective & Productive
Notice that being effective and productive is not quick or easy. It is a process that begins with faith, believing in and choosing to live for Jesus. With faith and obedience to the Holy Spirit, our actions and words, or our character, begin to improve. As we apply spiritual knowledge, we gain self-control which helps us to persevere through difficult times. The next virtue, godliness, sounds virtually impossible until we know its meaning. Godliness for believers means being aware of God’s presence in our lives which in turn, effects how we treat others, mirroring how we want to be treated. The ultimate quality we strive for is love, God’s kind of sacrificial love. Continue reading
From Failed to A+
… no matter how hard we work at trying to be obedient and do things right, we continue to fail. That’s where the good news comes in. God knows we have a sinful nature and could never get a perfect score. That’s why He sent His Son to take the test for us. Not only did Jesus take the test and score perfectly, never giving in to sin, He gives His perfect test score to everyone who believes in Him! Continue reading

Wednesday Whisper ~ Press Pause
Typically, the tests of faith we experience vary, but sometimes, we face the same crisis repeatedly until we pass the test. We haughtily view Israel’s lack of faith, but most likely follow a similar pattern. Increasing stress builds till at the panic point, we implode or explode without a thought given to the One who could intervene for us. Continue reading
Wednesday Whisper ~ Got Time
“But make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing!” Paul also warns in 1 Corinthians 7:29, “I do want to point out, friends, that time is of the essence. There is no time to waste, so don’t complicate your lives unnecessarily. Keep it simple…” (The Message). Continue reading

Wednesday Whisper ~ True Freedom
Thank God He sent Jesus to free us from the power of death. Jesus, though innocent, received the punishment for the sin of everyone and broke the chains of sin that threaten to control us. Freedom back to an intimate relationship with the Father begins by believing Jesus is His one Son. Jesus is the key Who sets us free. “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36 NIV) May you experience true freedom in Him today. Continue reading

Wednesday Whisper ~ Quiet Times
Even Jesus had the habit of getting up before sunrise and going to a solitary place to listen to and talk with His Father. David wrote in Psalms 37:7a, “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him.” (NIV) Being still before the Lord allows us to worship and give thanks to the Almighty, to bask in His love and peace, to share our burdens, seek His wisdom, and listen for counsel.
May we regularly set aside a time and place and not miss the most important meeting of our day. He will be there. Will we? Continue reading

Wednesday Whisper ~ Fall, Not a Season
When we make those wrong choices, or sin, we need to acknowledge it, straighten things out with God and the one(s) we hurt, get help as needed, and then move on. Falling is expected but we are not expected to stay down or continue making that same stupid ‘fall.’ Let’s learn from our mistakes and do all we can not to repeat them. Falling is costly. It has consequences and leaves scars, but does not need to be permanent. Continue reading
