True: God’s Plan of Salvation
God’s plan to save mankind was to send His one and only Son, Jesus. Remember, God wanted a relationship with us, but sin caused us to be separated from God. Therefore, God lovingly made a way for that great chasm to be bridged. Jesus left Heaven, came to earth, and lived a perfect life, never giving in to the temptation of sin. He accepted the punishment of death for all mankind. He was the perfect sacrifice necessary for our salvation. Luke 19:10 states Jesus’ purpose for coming: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” (That’s you and me!) Our salvation is a free gift, paid for in full by Jesus. True: God Is Holy and We Are Sinners
If only God is holy, what does that mean for us? How can we ever have a relationship with Him and eventually join Him in His amazing new heaven and earth? The good news is “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) And “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) Continue reading

True: God Seeks and Invites All
The compassionate shepherd leaves his other ninety-nine sheep in safety to seek the one that wandered off. When he finds it, he rejoices! These parables demonstrate God’s great love for us, all of us, those who have not chosen to believe as well as those who believe but have wandered off. Jesus is the shepherd who searches for you, to bring you into His loving arms and rejoice over you! Continue reading

True: God Created You
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139:13-14) So… we know that God … Continue reading

True: There Is One God
Throughout the history of mankind, there have been numerous gods that have been worshipped. The truth is that there is only one, true God. He is the LORD God Almighty, creator of the universe. He is the only one to be worshipped. He is the one to be honored and glorified above all else. In Exodus 20:3, we find God’s first commandment, “You shall have no other gods before me.” And David penned these words in a psalm found in 1 Chronicles 16:26, “For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.” Continue reading

True: We Can Control Our Thoughts
Since it is clear that God desires for us to control our thought life, what better way than to begin with meditating on and memorizing Philippians 4:8? (See above.) These are words the apostle Paul wrote to encourage fellow believers, so let’s instill them into our lives as well. Continue reading

Introduction to “Devotions to Improve My Thought Life” or “What Was I Thinking!?”
Whether feeling, facing, or full of anger, bitterness, confusion, depression, emptiness, frustration, grief, helplessness, …(the alphabet goes on)…we have the option, a choice if you will, to stop and turn our focus from ourselves and our own circumstances, and instead look up and fill our minds with thoughts God has for us.
