“The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge” (Psalm 19:1-2).

I love that God speaks to us through His creation! Who has not stood in awe of a sunset or at an ocean’s edge, been struck by the magnitude of a mountain range or touched by a snowflake’s uniqueness? Creation is a gift that speaks to our hearts. Today, let’s see what the sun will teach us.
Psalm 19 continues with a beautiful metaphor of the sun:
“which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is hidden from its heat” (Psalm 19:5-6).
The sun sets a good example for us. It rises each day to fulfill its God-given purpose. Portrayed as a bridegroom and champion, the sun eagerly and joyfully sets out. It runs or goes forth with love, confidence, and strength. It stays on course, not wandering off its assigned path. And along its way, it reaches out, touching and influencing for good.
Like the sun, may we rise to do the work God has called us to do. May we joyfully “run the race” God has set before us. Go through our day, strengthened by His Word and His Presence, reaching out and reflecting His love, blessing others along the way.
Remember Jesus’ words, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14a). May we shine for Jesus as we rise, run, and reach!
