This morning I was washing one of my favorite bowls, a work of art gifted by a potter, Ms. Dalton, a parent of one of my kindergarten students years ago. Imagining the time and effort it took to form the clay, add intricate details, fire and paint it, and whatever other steps required that I know little of, made me appreciate its beauty even more.
It reminded me that we are but clay in our Creator Father’s hands. Some days, we may be tempted to jump off the potter’s wheel because being transformed can be a painful and lengthy process. But we can be reassured God has a plan and purpose in mind for each of us crazy lumps of clay. He can shape us and mold us into amazing works of art, treasures of His design, when we surrender to His will and allow Him to do His work in our lives.
“It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.” ~ Ephesians 1:11-12 (The Message)
May we be pliable clay in the Potter’s hands.
Wow thank you for the example that is a great reminder! Clay pots with a will of our own…may we make the best choices today!
