The goal is always to pass a test, whether it’s a spelling test, blood test, or a challenge in the area of spiritual growth.
Let’s consider what test God may be giving us right now. Will we give up right away, half-way through, or just before the test is finished? Many times, we have no idea how long the test will last. In that case, we need perseverance. We need to faithfully hang on, not looking too far down a road that may overwhelm. Take one day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time, saying, “I can do this for now. God is with me.”

I heard one preacher say that if we don’t pass a test the first time, we get to take it over and over until we do. Wow! Nobody wants that.
In the midst of our challenge, may we remember to recount our blessings and give thanks. Also, pray about what lesson God wants us to learn. I hope to be a quick learner, but I’m afraid I’m not.
Hear what James, Jesus’s half-brother, says, “Anyone who meets a testing challenge head-on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate. For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life” (James 1:12 The Message).
Once you arrive on the other side of your challenge or perhaps your ‘dark valley,’ imagine God whispering, “Well done.”
