Don’t Blame Him

Please don’t be mad at God
Because of what I did
Don’t turn away from Him
Because of things I said
I was someone you looked up to
But got tangled up in sin
Don’t blame Him!

I know I hurt you deeply
Deeper than I could understand
Caused your world to come crashing in
Broke your heart, upset your plan

Daring not to trust again 

But God is still God over all

As I solemnly seek
An audience with my King

This Offering

Verse 1:
Billowing smoke arising from a sacrifice
Glowing sparks fleeing upward soon grow dim
Did this offering reach You up in heaven
To briefly appease the debt of sin?

Verse 2:
An altar of acacia wood for incense
Overlay the top and sides with purest gold
A fragrant incense on the altar every morning
Again at twilight for generations told

Chorus:
May my prayer be set before you like the incense
May my hands be lifted up in sacrifice
May I, like the magi, bow and worship You
And present You with treasures of great price

Bridge:
Has this offering cost me nothing?
Have I said, “Here I am”?
Is my desire to do Your will, oh God?

Throne to Throne

Moses was afraid to speak
Afraid to face his foe
But with God’s strength, he sought the king
And cried, “Let God’s people go!”
Aaron threw his staff upon the ground
And it became a snake
Pharaoh refused to believe the sign
And thus sealed his own fate

Chorus:
Because, Pharaoh wouldn’t listen
His heart was hard as stone
God had to teach that king a lesson
A lesson, from Throne to throne

The river Nile was turned to blood
Frogs plagued the countryside
Egypt’s dust evolved to gnats
Flies swarmed from far and wide
Their livestock was no longer live
Boils broke on beast and man
Hail, locusts, and darkness came
From God’s almighty hand

Because, Pharaoh wouldn’t listen
His heart was hard as stone
God had to teach that king a lesson
A lesson, from Throne to throne

Finally, one plague remained
Moses spoke out for the Lord,
“At midnight, your firstborn son will die.
Consider yourself warned!”

Which throne had the power?
Which throne would overtake?
Which throne lost a son forever?
Which throne made the mistake?

God is all-powerful!
Our God would overtake!
Pharaoh lost a son forever!
He made a big mistake!

The message of this rap is one
That you had better hear
Christ is King and He will reign
His Word has made it clear

Pray for the Persecuted

For those being persecuted
I whisper a prayer
Almighty Lord, You know
Who, when and where
Your precious ones lie
Behind bolted doors
They stand up for Jesus
In spiritual wars 

For those who are cold
In the enemy’s cell
Lord, send a warm cover
Please, keep them well
For all those who hunger
And still thirst for more
We ask that a miracle
From Your mighty hands pour 

We plead Your power
To be quickly released
To protect the innocent
Whose beatings increase
While proclaiming Your Name
And giving You praise
Knowing today may be
The last of their days 

We pray that You’d send
Encouragement and hope
For believers depressed
Who in dark darkness grope
Lord, send a light
And strength for each day
May they experience Your presence
And power as they pray 

And let us not wane
In our prayers for them
Next door may be next
An American
Jesus said it would come
Let’s not close our eyes
Warnings of persecution
Faintly disguised

And then, if tomorrow
We are the ones
Called to stand up
For God’s only Son
Lord, give us the courage
To answer the call
Remembering that You
Gave Your life for our all

The Whisper

I heard the whisper
In my spirit, it felt wrong
But then the world echoed
It louder and long 

And louder and louder
And louder, it rang
Bombarding my mind
Invading my space 

Transforming my thinking
Attacking my mind
Encouraging me to leave
What I valued behind 

The battle raged on
Between Truth, between lie
Between what my heart taught
Between wrong, between right 

And then, in the quiet
Another Voice spoke
Tenderly, lovingly
Gently awoke 

The spirit of Truth
He had placed within me
The Almighty Creator
Who created – me 

He whispered, He loved me
The thought whelmed my mind
He knew that I longed
To be loved my whole life 

The aching was deep
He felt my pain seer
He waited patiently
‘Til I welcomed Him near 

Then I turned to listen
Let my words be few
Honoring God
Was my duty, I knew

He said, I have a plan
Better than you’ve heard
A plan for My creation
Revealed in My Word

I created them
Man and woman, long ago
Made for each other
A love that would grow 

Imperfect in union
In an imperfect place
Where now lies abound
And heresies race 

To confuse your mind
To conquer your soul
But where I long to heal
And make you whole

The Mighty One, God,
The LORD summons the earth
To call upon Him
In our trouble and hurt
He speaks, the sun rises
Then sets ‘cross the sky
While His people are praising
And others ask, “Why?”

Why is this happening?
Why won’t that end?
Why am I not
Being blessed like my friend?
Why won’t things go right?
Why can’t I get a break?
Why such pain and sadness?
Why all this heartache?
